Undefined Reference To Winmain In Dev C%2b%2b

Hello all, I've been having trouble compiling my files. I get the following message: C: DEV-C1 Lib libmingw32.a(main.o)(.text+0x8e): undefined reference to `WinMain@.' I looked through all my files and noticed that when I tried to compile something the compiler makes a file with a '.o' extension instead of the '.exe'. I tried to do a bit of digging around and thought it was a linker problem that's common with windows 10 where windows looks for Winmain to start a program rather than Main. So with this in mind, from DOS, I tried c -mwindows -o hello.exe hello.cpp (as -mwindows is supposed to include the extra steps).

any help here would be appreciated. Ive really racked my brains at this, sooo.

I have installed cygwin, and Netbeans and have been successfully deving, compiling and running a small SDL-1.2 windows game with no problems.

I guess the main question is: What are the options I give the linker if im using Cygwin, SDL2 and Netbeans?
