| I just bought Studio One 3 Artist after a month wrong turn on Ableton Live Lite and a 10 year run on Acid Pro5. I have a Focusrite 18i8 and the latest version of M Audio's Oxygen 49 USB keyboard controller. I can't in all my noob-ness and hours of searching, figure out how to get the two to work together without a MIDI out on the Oxygen. Any help would be greatly appreciated. |
| Hi.. You do not need to connect the keyboard directly to the interface. Connect both directly to your computer via separate usb cables (it is recommended that you do not connect both simultaneously to the same usb hub) and ensure that you have the latest software for both installed. You will need to set up the keyboard as both a controller and keyboard in S1 for full fuctionality. Use the keyboard to play S1's built in or third party synths/samplers or to control S1/plugin parameters. Use the Focusrite (wise choice of interface in my opinion) for input/output of audio/midi signals to/from outboard gear. You could, if needed, play outboard sound modules from the keyboard but this will be via the computer/DAW/interface midi output and not via a direct link between the keyboard and interface! Hope this helps..Regards Windows 10 Pro/i7 6800k @3.4Ghz/16Gb ram. Studio One Pro, Melodyne Editor 4, Vocalign Project, Superior Drummer 3, Izotope N2-O8 and various other plugins. Focusrite Saffire Pro 40, Faderport, Focal Alpha 50's, Korg Pa3x, Korg Pad Kontrol, numerous guitars, basses & other antiquated outboard gear. Maybe one day I'll actually finish a project! |
| Try this just for grins 1. Make sure the Oxygen is plugged in via USB 2. In Studio one, create a new song 3. Go to Studio One Options 4. Choose External Devices 5. Choose 'New Keyboard' 6. In the send and receive boxes, choose the Oxygen if it's there (if it's not let me know) 7. choose Apply and OK 8. Go back to the song and drag in the Presence Plugin 9. Choose one of the Piano sounds 10. make sure the track is armed and monitoring (red and blue light lit) 11. Play the keyboard. That should get you going. If not we can schedule a one on one via skype or over the phone. johnny www.hst-homestudiotrainer.com Main Site https://www.hst-homestudiotrainer.com/ Pivotshare Subscription Site https://homestudiotrainer.pivotshare.com YouTube Channel https://www.youtube.com/homestudiotra.. |
| I got it up and running. It was not showing in the send and receive boxes at first and for whatever reason. Thanks for the help you two. |

| I've been fighting this battle with a new Keystation 61..MIDI monitor shows activity, but there is zero triggering of any instruments, regardless of input/output settings.. At wits ends - all this stuff work with (other DAWs in past 25 yrs)..some guidance would be appreciated. Yeah.. | Hi Ken .. Don't have a Keystation 61 but it is a class compliant device so should work straight out of the box. A few things to check.. Have you set up the keyboard as a keyboard and controller? Do you have the instrument track set to receive from the Keystation 61? Have you armed both the record (red) and the monitor (blue) buttons? Sorry if these things are too simplistic but you'd be surprised how often the little things get overlooked - I'm doing it constantly! Let us know if you get no joy, I'm sure one of the S1superbrains will chip in with a more definitive answer. Regards.. Windows 10 Pro/i7 6800k @3.4Ghz/16Gb ram. | Hi Steve, and thanks.. Yes, I went through all those steps..record and monitor buttons active, proper instrument in place, etc..MIDI activity registering. There are MIDI events recording as well, although I have no idea what they are. Unable to hear, monitor, etc.. Tis a mystery. I know the keyboard works, I know the VI work as they trigger using the QWERTY.. Dang. Yeah.. | Hi all, I just picked up an Oxygen 49 and would like to use it with Studio One Pro. Not sure how to go about that is there a place I can go to for that type info. Thank you for any help. |
| Other than searching the forum? Check out one or more of these videos. You'll want to add the Oxygen 49 as a keyboard and as a control surface, I'm guessing. Edit Just realised you piggy-backed on another thread. Post #2 gives you the first half, adding it as a keyboard. | Hello everyone, I am having trouble getting Studio One 2 to 'learn' the MIDI controls the Oxygen 49 MKIV. I know this thread is for Studio One 3 but I would assume Studio One 2 would be able to run the keyboard no problem..Everything is updated and all drivers are installed (technically the M-Audio Oxygen 49 MKIV automatically installed its drivers I guess when I connected it to the computer). It is strange: Studio One is able to learn all the sliders and knobs no problem, but it won't learn the added drum pads on the MKIV as well as the pitch control knob. MOST IMPORTANTLY, nothing will play (no MIDI will trigger, I guess would be the technical term) when I press any key, no matter the octave. I just bought the Oxygen 49 so maybe I'm confused with it's functionality and controller interface, but I feel like I've tried everything, including following these instructions and looking up multiple YouTube videos: 1. Again, most MIDI controls are working EXCEPT the ones that actually cause real music haha. Please help!!! Very frustrated! |

| Wait just kidding don't answer this, it SEEMS to have decided to work now? Idk very strange. Ignore my question for now, but may post again soon. |
| I don't know that keyboard but it's quite usual to have to add MIDI keyboards twice: once as a keyboard and once as a control surface. If it needs the latter, it's usually described in the manual. Many of them follow the Mackie protocol.
